This book is a photographical search for clues on the Berlin Wall Trail. From November 2006 until January 2007, the Swiss filmmaker Dominique de Rivaz, living in Berlin, walked along the former ring of the Berlin Wall and photographed places of its initial course, both in the city of Berlin and in neighboring Brandenburg. Her photographs thematise what has disappeared completely or remained only fragmentary, but demonstrate more clearly the signs of new life and its enforcement power. Absent and yet of an extended presence the wall still influences the daily events of Berlin's urban landscape. Wide, derelict areas, amputated roads as well as splitted quarters are the remains of a dominant historical reality of the urban fabric. The photographs taken in the harshness of winter expose what the wall in its overall accuracy has been and still is: a scar, almost invisible here and there, but poorly healed in many places.
"The Never Ending Wall" is a walk along the 155 kilometers long former city wall captured in pictures- an invitation to follow this trail with open eyes, and to be inspired by the special atmosphere of these places.
